Rhae’s of Glass – Stained Glass Designs

Born and raised in Sneads Ferry, NC, I’ve called the Raleigh area home since 1990, where my husband and I raised our three children. My passion for creating art was sparked in my early childhood, surrounded by a family filled with creativity and a deep appreciation for the “art life.”

I began my self-taught journey in stained glass around 2005 and started sharing my designs with others in 2011. My work primarily uses the copper foil method, where each piece of glass is hand-cut, edges smoothed, and joined with copper foil before being carefully soldered together. I often incorporate both new and upcycled materials—such as metal, jeweled beads, and textiles—making every piece one of a kind. While I’ve worked on projects of various sizes, I love creating smaller, more accessible pieces, making this timeless art form available to a broader audience.

The earrings, which I affectionately call “D’earrings,” came to life eight years ago after a request from a gift shop in need. Inspired by my grandchildren, who call me “Dee,” this playful project evolved into thousands of pairs of fun, unique earrings that have been cherished by many.

For me, the true joy lies in creating something that resonates with others—a connection between my craft and someone’s discovery of beauty in it.
